Out of Canada, Segue aka Jordan Sauer, continues to bring us compositions that are always evolving, since his first release in 2006, Forest Refractions to his latest release off Silent Season- Pacifica opens with melodias echoes intermixed with wet kicks and lackadaisical bass lines that captivate us into a habitual trance. Each track encompasses it’s own meditative and lethargic quality, allowing us to gently discover, as if we begin each song inside a tunnel that exits into one unknown after another. For someone like myself who grew up on the Westcoast, I can relate to the spectacular landscapes that have so humbly inspired this stretch of music. The shaking bass in techtonic plates that run deep underneath the earth, drums filtered through water, a panaroma of sounds that bears balance between archaic cliffs of unfathomable scale and the magnetic pull of the tides.
For now just the 300 limited numbered CDs and the available MP3 version.
Vinyle release is planned for May 2013 on Juno Records.
