Julius Steinhoff + Just von Ahlefeld = Smallpeople = Big sounds, and that is exactly what they bring us with they’re latest EP, In the Jungle- confirmation that deep house is still alive and well. Opening up the album is Nofretete, hard and crunchy with a simplified essence stemming from the heavens above staying true to the 1990’s flavor for which the music originates. While the night is young, the album’s next two tracks are not for the weak at heart but rather for those who love to love, and more importantly love to dance. Ninja Restaurant feels like a space station lounge filled with little aliens bugging out around one another, while dense stars shoot by, everything else floats slowly between planets- low metaphysical rave signals contrast the higher pecking synths as we finish with the EPs title track. Released on February 25th 2013 on Running Back Records out of Hamburg.
