After a 7 week wait – and an amazing party in Rome – we return to London for a special – and emotional – edition of FunkyZeit.

April is FZ founder and resident Mikail’s last party for a while, he’s leaving us for the exotic shores of Asia, so we thought we’d send him off in the only fitting way – in a blaze of glory.

To mark this monumental occasion we’ve invited two incredibly exciting (and well-suited) acts.

Heading things up we have Stroboscopic Artefacts founder Lucy. We’ve been following him for a while, his releases with on-point labels like Mote Evolver and Curle have been some of the most exciting and diverse to be released in recent times (gaining praise from virtually everyone in the industry).

His DJ sets are also legendary, taking in a staggering variety of electronic music. He’s one of the most in-demand of the new generation of techno DJs, regularly appearing at clubs like Berghain/Panoramabar and Fabric as well as festivals like Time Warp and Sonar (where he showcased for Stroboscopic Artefacts a couple of years back).

Joining Lucy on the night we have an extraordinary live act from Scuba’s Hotflush Recordings. Following the release of several mysterious (and well-received) tracks, speculation about the identity of Dense & Pika was rife in 2012. It wasn’t until they played Boiler Room last month that their true identities were made public.

D&P are Chris Spero (AKA UK house and techno producer Glimpse) and Alex Jones (Hyperolour co-founder and producer in his own right). Their 45-minute Boiler Room set was one of the best we’ve seen, an uncompromising succession of warehouse techno bangers – we can’t wait to hear what it sounds like in Crucifix :)

Expect big things.

FZ.
